The painting depicts an auto decked out with corn for a special event known as the Corn Carnival in Rock Falls and a highly sought after, prized blue ribbon.
Many photos of the Corn Carnival were provided by Rock Falls Tourism as possible subjects for the mural. This one was chosen because the automobile could clearly relate that travel was made easier by the newly paved Lincoln Highway, allowing visitors to attend festivals outside of their own towns. As you discover the mural’s intricate details done in varying tones of sepia, along with the contrasting royal blue ribbon,
you too will wish you could attend this popular event!
