County Fair time! The elements of this exceptional mural present a vivid depiction of the 1921 Whiteside County Fair, held in Morrison. The catalyst for the mural’s subject came from research materials supplied by Corinne Bender, representing the community of Morrison, including a vintage advertisement for the local county fair.   The original Whiteside County Fair advertisement stated, “Special Parking Place for Your Automobile”.  Newspapers of the era reported efficient traffic management on the Lincoln Highway, and vehicle parking for the fair contributed greatly to its record
breaking attendance and success that year.  Unique elements to enjoy in this mural
include a car “driving into” the painting on its way to the fair and the use of vibrant
color in the fair poster, along with the obvious care taken to paint every detail.
