An exceptional 1923 photo of Pilcher Park Tourist Camp, located on the Lincoln Highway, was used to create Joliet’s mural. The rich sepia tones bring out the details
of the rustic outdoor setting featured in the painting. Note the spectacular border
of this mural, styled in the shape intricate of building columns. The excitement of
independent travel and auto camping, were popular components of a journey on the highway in the 1920s.
