Fulton’s mural brings to life some of the first motorists crossing the Mississippi River atop the tall Fulton-Lyons Bridge, at the western terminus of the Illinois Lincoln Highway. Not only was this crossing quick by automobile but it also provided a spectacular view where visitors often stopped to take the perfect photo. Extreme
care was taken to insure the accuracy for this mural. So much so, that the artist
purchased dress patterns from the time period to paint the proper clothing on the
woman and child.
